Peter Nielsen Arraigned For Murder Of Wife And Daughter… The Mill Of Justice Grinding Slowly But Surely

Lawyers, friends, family members and activists led by the President of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin today stormed the Lagos State Magistrate Court, Yaba as the trial begins in a case of the murder of a Lagos House wife and her Daughter, Zainab and Petra, by her Nigerian based Danish Husband, Peter Nielson.

The commencement of the trial, followed an advise by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, which gave the Police the go ahead to proceed with the trial of the accused, having established a case of murder against the accused.

Addressing the media after the court adjournment the president, of Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin reiterated her position on the murder of Zainab and her daughter, Petra, as she said the only ultimate conclusion in cases of grievous crimes as this, is justice, which is the only assurance of immortalizing the memory of the deceased. It is the only means to lasting peace after an injustice and best prescription for deterrence, to prevent recurrence from other intending perpetrators.

She further urged the law enforcement agencies to be objective and the prosecutors to engage in proper investigation.

Dr Odumakin applauded the swift intervention and commitment, exhibited by the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr. Edgar Imohinmi and the State’s Attorney General for the timely release of the DPP advice that has established a prima facie case of murder against the accused and hope that the high court will take the baton and commence trail in earnest.

She asserted that the organization remain at this time of grief with the family of Late Zainab and assure the family and the general public that the organization will keep the memory of Zainab and Petra alive through continuous campaign in all ramifications until justice is served.

In concluding, she urged all Nigerians to speak against domestic violence so we can help save lives and prevent further tragedy, just like we heard of another tragic occurrence on the 3rd of May, 2018 involving one Mrs Udeme Odibi who murdered her husband Mr Otike Odibi.Wedlock is not padlock. Don’t be a victim and don’t be a perpetrator. Instead, be a peace ambassador.

The magistrate KB Ayeye ordered the continued detention of Peter Nielson, until June 28. Nielsen, 53 allegedly hit his wife’s (37years) head against the wall several times, thereby killing her, later poisoned his 4year daughter, tried to cover up the dastardly act as a domestic accident.
