A baby girl has died after being left in a car in sweltering heat because her father ‘forgot about her’. The unnamed one-year-old was strapped in the family car while her adoptive dad dropped off a sibling at nursery.
She was left all day outside the family home and was only discovered later on by her adoptive mother. The tot was rushed to hospital following the tragedy in East Nashville, USA, but was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital on Wednesday evening. A tweet from Nashville Police said: ‘1-year-old girl dies after being left in a car seat all day in a pickup truck parked at the family’s East Nashville home.
‘Adoptive father reportedly forgot about the child after dropping off her sibling at daycare. ‘Adoptive mother found the girl at Virginia Ave home this evening. She was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Vanderbilt Hospital. ‘Investigation will continue through the night.’ The family have not yet been named by police. The average temperature in Nashville yesterday was 25C with a high of 31C at just before 2pm.
