Historic Moment Donald Trump Welcomes Freed North Korea Prisoners

President Donald Trump has welcomed three American men home to the US after they spent more than a year in prison in North Korea. The US President promised ‘quite a scene’ when the three Korean American men returned to US soil this morning.

He was seen shaking hands with the former prisoners before they gave peace signs to the waiting media. The historic moment came after secretary of state Mike Pompeo visited North Korea and said the men ‘seem to be in good health’. Despite a middle-of-the-night landing, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and a host of senior administration officials joined Trump to celebrate the occasion.

The men – Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak Song and Tony Kim – would have suffered in extreme conditions in prison camps, experts say.

The president and first lady boarded the medical plane on which the men travelled to take a private moment with them, then appeared at the top of the plane stairway with the three and applauded as the men held up their arms in triumph. ‘This is a special night for these three really great people,’ Trump told reporters as he stood on the tarmac with the former detainees.
