‘Now I Am Happy With Who I Am’ – Serena Williams

There is a reason she is referred to as the GOAT, you know. That is, Greatest of all time. However, Serena Williams has opened up about her past battles with self-image as she admitted she once wanted to be a size four – but that she now doesn’t regret voicing those words in 2004 as it has shown how far she’s come in accepting her strengths. ‘Oh God, I’ll never be a size 4! Why would I want to do that, and be that?’ she told Harpers Bazaar. ‘This is me, and this is my weapon and machine.

‘But I love that I said that, because I can understand. I can show [daughter] Olympia that I struggled, but now I’m happy with who I am and what I am and what I look like… Olympia was born and she had my arms, and instead of being sad and fearful about what people would say about her, I was just so happy.’

The champion tennis player, 36, opened up to the fashion magazine in their latest issue as she spoke about self-acceptance, pregnancy and sisterhood. She opened up about her love of being pregnant, as she admitted if she wasn’t playing tennis she’d ‘be pregnant right now’, while getting real on the post-partum depression she suffered after the birth of her daughter with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
