Jack Wilshere has dropped a major hint on Instagram that he is ready to ‘close the book’ on his Arsenal career after failing to agree terms on a new contract with the Gunners. The midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the month when his contract expires and has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates. Clubs as varied as Premier League new boys Wolves and Italian champions Juventus have been mooted as potential suitors for Wilshere, who has been weighing up his future.
The 26-year-old, who joined Arsenal as a schoolboy and has been at the club for over a decade, took to Instagram late on Wednesday night to give an insight into his current mood. He wrote: ‘There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.’
It had been previously reported that manager Unai Emery was keen to sign Wilshere up to a new deal, but the player himself wanted assurances over his role and game time.
