Donald Trump is reported to have veotoed the furniture Melania had chosen in the White House. The president is said to have replaced furnishings his wife had picked out with pieces more suited to his ostenatious style. The First Lady had chosen a number of different items for the White House living quarters in the six months prior to her move to Washington, while she was living in New York with son Barron, according to reports.
But a New York Times article claims that Trump then replaced those choices with pieces he liked better and more in keeping with the ‘gilded, triumphal style of Louis XIV.’ Sources close to Melania, who favours ‘clean, modern lines,’ said it was an example of Trump’s inability to ‘relent on even the smallest requests from his wife’. Melania’s communications director Stephanie Grisham dismissed the allegations, saying they ‘both chose the decor’.
